Assam: COVID-19 tally touches 1272

Guwahati/UNI: The number of COVID 19 positive cases continued to increase in Assam as 56 new cases so far today took the overall tally to 1272.

State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed of the new cases through Twitter.

Among the new cases, two are from the airport, while details of one patient are yet to be ascertained.

Lakhimpur has reported 18 new cases, 12 from Barpeta, seven from Udalguri, and five each from Baksa and Dhubri.

Three cases have been confirmed from Kamrup, two from Dhemaji and one from Nalbari.

The number of active cases in the state now stands at 1102, while 163 have recovered and four have died so far.

The number of cases has doubled since May 25, when the 500-mark was reached, to cross 1000 yesterday.

The number of active cases had breached the 1,000-mark yesterday.
