6.3 magnitude earthquake hits Pakistan-India border region, tremors felt in north India

New Delhi/Islamabad, Sept 24 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter Scale hit Pakistan-India border region on Tuesday as tremors were felt in the Indian capital New Delhi and other parts of north India.

While no casualty has been reported in India but in Pakistan a woman was reportedly killed in the incident.

Tremors lasted for few seconds but was felt in different parts of north India including New Delhi, Kashmir, Punjab's Chandigarh and Uttarakhand's Dehradun.

Indian Meteorological Department website said the epicentre of the quake was at the Pakistan-India Border region and it measured 6.3 on the Richter Scale.

The tremors were felt at 4.31 pm.

The epicentre of the quake was located at 32.9 degrees north latitude and 73.7 degrees east longitude.

Situation in Pakistan:

Deputy Commissioner AJK Raja Qaiser spoke to Geo News, confirming that a woman died in an incident related to the earthquake. 

Tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Charsadda, Swat, Khyber, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar and Kohitan.

In Mirpur, 50 people were hurt, reports said.

Roads in Mirpur were cracked due to the intensity of the earthquake, reported Geo News.
