Vodafone Idea unveils new brand Vi

Mumbai/IBNS: Amid intense competition in the telecom sector, Vodafone Idea unveiled its new brand Vi on Monday, media reports said.

Vi, which represents two telecom companies Vodafone and Idea, have been unveiled at a time it is suffering a huge debt.

Ravinder Takkar, the managing director and CEO of Vodafone Idea, said in a statement, "Vodafone Idea came together as a merged entity two years ago. We have, since then, focussed on integrating two large networks, our people and processes.

"And today I am delighted to present Vi, a brand that will bring important meaning to the lives of our customers. Indians are optimistic and want to get ahead in life."

"They would love a credible partner to help them on this journey. Vi's positioning is built around this promise and will focus on meeting the customer needs to help them thrive," he added.

The Indian arm of Vodafone Group Plc and Idea had merged in August 2018 but had maintained their separate identities since then.

Vi's announcement comes after the Supreme Court last week gave all telecom companies 10 years to pay their Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues.
