Mumbai/ Kolkata, Nov 21 (IBNS): Tata Power, an integrated power company through its Corporate Social Responsibility endeavor, TPSDI (Tata Power Skill Development Institute) have placed 83% of its trainees within 6 months of Institutes inception.

68 TPSDI trainees have bagged offers from Welspun Indian Limited (Textiles), in a recruitment drive conducted at Maithon.

TPSDI has four Training Hubs in India to train, test, certify, and accredit over 2500 power sector workforce through modular skill development approach by FY16-17.

The four training hubs set up are TPSDI Shahad and TPSDI – Trombay (Maharashtra), TPSDI - Maithon (Jharkhand) and TPSDI- Mundra (Gujarat), which aims to bridge the skills gap that exists across the value chain, and to help build a capable workforce.

The Institute provides modular training courses that are purposefully designed to be market driven and employment oriented across a wide range of skills especially in the Power and allied sectors, so as to address the skill gap challenge faced by Indian Power Sector. While the Training Centers provide a corporate friendly atmosphere in the campus, they also proactively research and partner with organizations that can provide placement assistance to meritorious trainees wherever possible.

Expressing his joy on this milestone achievement, Anil Sardana, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power, said, “TPSDI was set up with an endeavor to provide training for youths towards employability and we are delighted to see the progress that our trainees have made in this very short time. 135 trainees have been trained at Maithon out of which 112 have been placed. With a success rate of 83%, TPSDI has become one of the most sought after training center in the community.”

“What makes us different from other training centers is that apart from classroom training, our trainees receive extensive hands-on practical work, to help them get a foothold in the power and allied sectors. We, at Tata Power will continue to par-take in such activities that ensure a strong future of the youth as well as power industry on the whole,” he further added.
