Mumbai, Aug 24 (IBNS): Tata Power, India’s leading integrated power company, announced on Wednesday that its generation capacity increased by close to 9 per cent in the first quarter (Q1) of FY17 compared to Q1 FY16.

The company, together with all its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities, has an installed generation capacity of 9432 MW (as of August, 2016)  compared to 8669 MW in FY16 mainly due to commissioning of 44 MW Lahori wind farm project in Madhya Pradesh and its Cennergi (Pty) unit achieving commercial operations of its wind farms, the 134 MW Amakhala Emoyeni and 95 MW Tsitsikamma, said the release.

The company generates power from various fuel sources such as thermal (coal, gas and oil), hydroelectric power, renewable energy (wind and solar) and waste heat recovery, thereby, reinforcing its position as the largest integrated power company in India, the company said.
