Tata Green Batteries forays into two-wheeler segment in India

Kolkata, May 18 (IBNS): TATA AutoComp GY Batteries Pvt. Ltd. (TGY), a joint venture between TATA AutoComp Systems Ltd, India's leading auto component manufacturer and GS YUASA International, Japan inaugurated the manufacturing facility for VRLA batteries.
The VRLA range of batteries from Tata Green Batteries are precision engineered from premium grade raw materials and made in its state-of-the art manufacturing plant at Ranjangaon near Pune.

These batteries will be marketed under the brand name “Tata Green Batteries – Velocity Plus” and will be available in 3AH, 3.5AH and 5AH, which are suitable for most 2 wheeler brands of motorcycles and scooters/ scooterettes. 
 
The Velocity Plus batteries by Tata Green Batteries are designed to give higher ignition power to ensure instant start in all weather conditions. The Lead – Calcium alloy ensures longer life of the batteries. These batteries are high performance, compact, lightweight and long lasting. The batteries are also customized for today’s high performance bikes and scooters.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Tandon, MD & CEO of Tata AutoComp Systems Limited said, “As the Indian automotive market is evolving, automotive manufacturers have to keep pace with consumer demands by upgrading their technology while matching global standards and local conditions. Toru Bomoto-san, Director of GS Yuasa, who flagged off the first consignment of the Velocity Plus VRLA batteries from Tata Green Batteries said “Our Joint Venture with Tata AutoComp has grown over the years and I am very happy with the progress Tata Green Batteries has made. We at GS Yuasa are committed to support this JV with latest technology to ensure that customers in India have a choice of long lasting and superior automotive batteries.”
 
Arijit Dutta CEO, TATA AutoComp GY Batteries added: “Recently the industry has seen a shift from conventional to VRLA range of batteries in the two wheeler segment. The Velocity Plus VRLA batteries from Tata Green Batteries are technologically superior, longer lasting, safe and designed keeping the Indian consumer’s demands in mind.”
