Sensex crosses 50,000-mark in early trading

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday rallied by 434 pts to open at 50,231.06 on the strength of Health Care, Industrials, IT and Telecom stocks.

The Nifty too edged up by 97 pts to 14,754.

The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 50,231.39 and 49,515.88 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra-day high and low at 14,754.90 and 14,574.15 respectively.

Mid Cap rose by 1.04 pc and Small Cap by 0.99 pc.

In 30 scrips, 21 advanced while 9 declined.

The gainers were Indusind Bank by 8.64 pc to Rs 1059.25, Dr Reddy by 4.56 pc to Rs 4688.70, M& M by 3.84 pc to Rs 847.95, Powergrid by 3.81 pc to Rs 201.60 and Sun Pharma by 3.28 pc to Rs 629.40.

The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.67 pc to Rs 7527.85, Kotak Bank by 1.64 pc to Rs 1832.85, SBI by 0.90 pc to Rs 330.20 and ITC by 0.87 pc to Rs 330.80.
