Onida unveils 'Onida Rewired', plans 100 retail outlets in 2-3 years

Consumer electronics brand Onida Electronics Ltd. on Wednesday unveiled 'Onida Rewired', the next phase of its strategic transformation, as it looks to accelerate premiumisation, innovation and customer engagement while expanding its retail footprint across India.

As part of the transformation, the company said it plans to increase its retail presence to 100 outlets over the next two to three years and strengthen its nationwide after-sales service network with more than 400 service partners within the next 12 months.

Once a dominant name in Indian households, Onida said the new strategy is aimed at driving sustainable business growth through a sharper focus on premium products, technological innovation and enhanced customer experiences.

Reaffirming the importance of eastern India in its expansion plans, the company said West Bengal will play a pivotal role in its national growth strategy. It also showcased its flagship 100-inch QD Mini LED Television, highlighting its push into the premium television segment.

Speaking to IBNS, Gunjan Srivastava, CEO and Managing Director of Onida Electronics Ltd., said, "Onida is currently undergoing a key transformation."

"'Onida Rewired' marks a defining step in our growth journey—one built on a clear vision to shape a stronger, future-ready consumer technology company. Kolkata and the eastern market remain central to this journey, reflecting their strategic importance to our expansion plans," he said.

On the launch of the flagship 100-inch QD Mini LED Television, Srivastava said the product adds a powerful new dimension to the company's premium portfolio.

"Along with the LED TV segment, we are also strengthening our other product portfolios, including air conditioners and washing machines," he said.

He added that Onida plans to expand into additional product categories in the future as part of its long-term growth strategy.

Commenting on competition in the consumer electronics market, Srivastava said the company is focused on understanding evolving customer needs and delivering meaningful innovations.

"Like all other brands, we are using smart technologies, including AI, but we bring solutions that are more relevant to consumers. That is our differentiation," he said.

"As I mentioned, we are currently focused on four product categories, but we are also working on new projects for the future. That is how we are approaching this transformation," he added.

Srivastava also confirmed that Onida has no immediate plans to set up a new manufacturing facility in West Bengal.
