The city was part of Mahindra’s simultaneous pan-India unveiling, underscoring its strategic importance in the brand’s electric mobility roadmap.

The launch marked a significant milestone in Mahindra’s journey towards redefining sustainable mobility, showcasing cutting-edge electric technology, advanced design, and future-ready performance tailored for Indian consumers.

The dignitaries present at the event included Rahul Kamani, Managing Director, NR Autos; Subrata Banerjee, Director, NR Autos; Sunit Choudhary, General Manager, NR Autos; Sihabuddeen KM, Area Sales Manager, MEAL; Saumya Shekhar Singh, ASM – West Bengal & Sikkim; Debasish Saha Roy, RSBM, MEAL; and Joysubho Mukherjee, Regional Manager – Channel Development, Mahindra & Mahindra.

Speaking at the event, Rahul Kamani, Managing Director, NR Autos, said, “The Kolkata unveiling of the SUV 9S R7XO and XEV 9S marked an important milestone for us at NR Autos. As a trusted partner of Mahindra, we were proud to bring the brand’s next-generation electric SUVs to Kolkata as part of this landmark pan-India launch."

The Mahindra XEV 9S, built on the advanced INGLO electric-origin architecture and powered by Mahindra’s MAIA intelligence platform, was presented as India’s first authentic electric 7-seater SUV.

The vehicle featured a high-capacity battery option of up to 79 kWh, delivering performance output of up to 180 kW and 380 Nm of torque, along with an IDC-certified driving range of up to 500 km.

Fast-charging capability enabled the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes using a DC fast charger, while a top speed of 202 km/h and acceleration from 0–100 km/h in around 7 seconds underlined its performance credentials.

Designed for maximum space and comfort, the XEV 9S offered segment-leading cabin space of 4,076 litres, a boot capacity of up to 527 litres, and a 150-litre front trunk, complemented by a 50:50 split third-row seating layout and a 10-metre turning circle for enhanced manoeuvrability.

The SUV was equipped with intelligent adaptive dampers, i-Link front suspension, and 5-link rear suspension, delivering a refined and composed ride.
In terms of safety and technology, the XEV 9S featured seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS supported by five radars and a vision camera, Driver and Occupant Monitoring System (DOMS), VisionX augmented-reality head-up display, and Secure360 live view and recording.

The in-cabin experience was enhanced by three 31.24 cm digital screens, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, 5G connectivity, digital key and NFC access, AutoPark Assist, and multiple smart climate modes.

Comfort highlights included powered and ventilated front seats, second-row powered boss mode, acoustic laminated glass, ambient lighting with LiveYourMood modes, and wireless charging for front and rear occupants.

The SUV 9S R7XO further strengthened Mahindra’s electric portfolio by combining bold SUV styling with advanced electric drivetrain technology and a strong focus on comfort, safety, and everyday usability.

The SUV featured a modern digital cockpit, connected vehicle technology, premium interiors, flexible seating configurations, and enhanced ride comfort tuning.
Safety systems included multiple airbags, electronic stability and traction control, advanced driver assistance features, and parking assistance technologies, making it well suited for both urban commuting and long-distance travel.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from customers, media, and auto enthusiasts, reflecting Kolkata’s growing interest in electric mobility solutions. With the introduction of the SUV 9S R7XO and XEV 9S, Mahindra reaffirmed its vision of shaping a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future for Indian mobility.
