New Delhi, Sept 3 (IBNS): The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) along with Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) are organizing The Indo - Africa ICT Summit 2015, a two day conference and exhibition on September 28-29 in Nairobi in Kenya.
The event is being supported by Department of Telecom and Department of Commerce, Government of India.

The host and partner association in Kenya for the event is ICT Authority, Kenya and is supported by the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, Republic of Kenya to evangelize trade relations between India and African countries.

ICT sector has been the major driver of economic growth in Africa over the last decade, with more than 50 countries and a population of over 1 billion, Africa is turning into one of the fastest growing regions in the world.

Offering huge domestic market potential and growing economically at more than 5% per year, Africa can support diversification of India from over dependence on the core markets. Also, the reform path adopted by many countries in Africa and the addition of significant broadband capacity with installation of undersea cables is encouraging huge demand of ICT services, driving the African ICT market to over $35 billion as of 2014. Indian companies can take this opportunity and foray into the continent and specifically enter Kenya.

Having the largest Sea Port in Mombasa, the country is the largest incoming source of products by sea to the East African region from Arab countries, Indian Sub-continent, Europe & Far East. The bilateral trade between Kenya and India amounts to $4.47 billion as of 2013-14, with India's exports to Kenya at $4.18 billion; the balance of trade is heavily in India's favor.

R Chandrashekhar, President, NASSCOM while talking about the event said, “India has emerged as one of the prominent trade partner for Africa and both the regions complement each other’s growth. IT and Telecom are the backbone for the growth of any country and Africa has been one of the fastest growing markets worldwide in communication technology. This partnership will help companies garner a source of capital along with becoming a job creator, enabling skills development, technology sharing and infrastructure development."

As digitalization and mobility continue to transform business operations and everyday life, Indo¬-Africa ICT Expo 2015 will present the latest technologies that help companies in Africa evolve and maintain a competitive edge in the communications and digital world.

The expo will be a platform to build synergy among India & African Countries to showcase diversified products & services, bringing together thought leaders across the entire ICT value chain to discuss solutions business opportunity and regulations. The focus of the expo will be on Kenya and its neighboring countries - Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, South Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda and Somalia; bringing together 100+ companies from India and Africa at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Nairobi, Kenya.
