MediaTek just unleashed two new chips that could supercharge flagship smartphones
MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, the latest additions to its Dimensity chipset portfolio, aimed at delivering enhanced performance, power efficiency, AI capabilities, imaging, gaming and wireless connectivity across flagship and premium smartphones.

Dimensity 9500s: Power built to last
Built on a flagship 3nm process and featuring an all big-core architecture, the Dimensity 9500s is designed to deliver sustained high performance with improved energy efficiency.
The octa-core CPU includes:
One Cortex-X925 ultra core clocked at up to 3.73GHz
Three Cortex-X4 premium cores
Four Cortex-A720 performance cores
Graphics performance is handled by the Immortalis-G925 GPU, enabling smooth, full-frame gameplay in demanding titles with support for advanced ray tracing. MediaTek’s Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 (MAGT 3.0) and Frame Rate Converter 3.0 (MFRC 3.0) further enhance power efficiency, helping extend battery life during intensive gaming sessions.
The chipset integrates a flagship-class NPU optimized for generative reasoning and multi-modal AI models, enabling advanced on-device capabilities such as live photo post-processing, AI photo editing (including outpainting, matting and object removal), and AI-powered content summarisation for calls, meetings and files.
For imaging, the Dimensity 9500s features MediaTek’s advanced Imagiq image processor, supporting real-time 30fps motion tracking and 8K full-focus Dolby Vision HDR video recording. Enhanced snapshot performance and noise-reduction technologies ensure fast, clear and vivid image capture.

Dimensity 8500: Powerful performance for ultra-fast play
The Dimensity 8500 is built on an energy-efficient 4nm process and features an all big-core CPU architecture with eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 3.4GHz, delivering improved performance and power efficiency.
The chipset supports accurate task scheduling and LPDDR5X memory at up to 9600Mbps, enabling smooth multitasking, responsive gaming and extended battery life for everyday use.
Graphics are powered by the Mali-G720 GPU, which delivers a 25% increase in peak performance compared with the previous generation, while reducing power consumption by 20%.
With an upgraded computing core and gaming engine, the Dimensity 8500 offers full-frame stability, faster load times and high energy efficiency. The chipset also brings ray tracing to mainstream mobile games, enhancing visual realism and overall immersion.
