New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India witnessed a 3% rise in total sales, reaching 181,630 units in July, primarily driven by the growing demand for its utility vehicle range.

In the corresponding month last year, the company delivered a total of 175,916 units to its dealers, according to a statement by Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL).

However, the sales of mini-segment cars, which include models like Alto and S-Presso, saw a decline to 9,590 units from 20,333 units in July 2022.

Similarly, sales of compact cars, comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, dropped by 21% to 67,102 units compared to 84,818 units in the previous year.

On the positive side, utility vehicles, such as Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and XL6, experienced remarkable growth, with sales soaring to 62,049 units last month, more than double the 23,272 units dispatched in July 2022.

Regarding exports, MSI reported shipping 22,199 units in the past month, surpassing the 20,311 units exported in the same month last year.
