Maruti Suzuki launches its first LCV, Super Carry

Kolkata, Sep 6 (IBNS): Leading auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki launched the sale of its first Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV), the Super Carry mini truck, in Kolkata on Monday, as part of its initial sales plan.

“The pilot launch is being done in three cities currently, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana,” said RS Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales).

T Hashimoto, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) was also present at the event.

Kalsi reasoned that Kolkata was chosen because “the city is the commercial hub of the Eastern region in the country.”

“Maruti is making cars for more than 30 years and we continue to introduce new technologies, styles and designs from time to time,” said Kalsi,

"We undertook a lot of research and testing to bring this LCV to the customers," he added.

Super Carry is available in the Kolkata market at a price of Rs 4,11,000, in two colours -- superior white and silky silver.

Equipped with a powerful 793 cc diesel engine delivering a peak torque of 75nm at 2000 rpm, Maruti Suzuki Super Carry delivers a mileage of 22.07 Km per litre, the company said.

It comes with a loading capacity of 740 kgs and a loading deck of 3.25 Sq. meter.

The company claimed that the vehicle not only has a smooth steering and gear shift but can also load more goods as well as possess better safety and stability compared to many other similar vehicles.

A video presentation also highlighted on the fact that the seats do not get heated up by the engine during long distance journeys.

Speaking about the service network, Kalsi said, “We have a strong service network with more than 32,000 workshops.”

The company, which is currently not focusing on the number of sales,  expects to begin selling the LCV in Rajasthan and Haryana later this year after considering customers response.

Maruti Suzuki began operations in 1982 with its first car 'Maruti 800.'
