Market takes off! Sensex and Nifty surge at open — Axis Bank, Power Grid lead the charge

Mumbai/IBNS: The Indian stock market on Wednesday opened in green with BSE Sensex trading at 85,470.92 while Nifty 50 surging ahead to 26,132.10, media reports said.

Though Sensex opened at around 169 points higher but later the gains were corrected.

Nifty 50 opened in green trading at 26,132.10. It surged by 79.45 points above the previous close of 26,052.65.

In the initial hours, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, Jio Financial Services and Power Grid were among the gainers.

Nifty Metal and Auto indices were in the green among the sectoral indices.

Nifty IT and Bank indices were among the laggers sectorally.

Market guru Anil Singhvi said he expects support for Nifty 50 index at 25,900-26,000 levels and a strong buy zone at 25,775-25,875 levels on Thursday, Zee News reported.

Singhvi says he expects support for the Nifty Bank emerging at 58,900-59,100 levels and a strong buy zone at 58,600-58,800 levels, the broadcaster said.
