L&T wins Rs 5100 crore power plant order from MPGCL

Mumbai, Sept 5 (IBNS): Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a turnkey order for setting up a 2x660 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project at Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-II) on a complete Engineering-Procurement-Construction basis from the state utility MP Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL).

Valued over Rs 5100 crore, the project order covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two coal-fired thermal units of 660 MW each with supercritical parameters. The project is located near village Dongalia in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.

The order was won through tough competitive bidding involving several national and international bidders. The project demands stringent completion schedule of 43/47 months (unit wise).

Significantly, this is a repeat order on L&T from the same state utility, which had earlier placed an EPC order for the Balance of Plant Package for 2 Units of 600 MW each of Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-I).

Commenting on the order, Shailendra Roy, Whole-time Director (Power, Minerals & Metals) said the first Unit of Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-I) had recently gone commercial and was operating satisfactorily.

“The awarding of the Stage-II of Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project affirms L&T’s credentials in EPC execution of power plants under critical schedules”, he added.
