Kwality Wall’s to phase out palm oil, shift to dairy ingredients from next year
Mumbai/IBNS: Kwality Wall’s is set to replace vegetable fats such as palm oil with dairy ingredients across its product portfolio beginning next year.
Major Product Overhaul Planned
In an interview with Economic Times, Peter ter Kulve, Global CEO of The Magnum Ice Cream Company, which owns Kwality Wall’s, said India has emerged as one of the company’s biggest strategic markets following the spin-off of Hindustan Unilever’s global ice cream business.
Kulve said nearly half of Kwality Wall’s existing portfolio in India would be transitioned to dairy-based ingredients, which are considered higher in quality and nutritional value.
The remaining portfolio is expected to make the shift over the following year as part of the company’s broader overhaul strategy.
Expansion Plans In India
The company also plans to deploy one million cold cabinets across India while increasing investments in manufacturing capacity, distribution networks, and cold-chain infrastructure.
The Amsterdam-based Magnum Ice Cream Company owns several global brands including Magnum, Cornetto, and Kwality Wall’s.
Focus On Local Flavours
As part of its India expansion strategy, the company is also looking to introduce more local flavours tailored to Indian consumers.
