Kolkata’s Laser Power & Infra bags a massive ₹836 crore deal — here’s what’s driving the surge!

Kolkata/IBNS: Laser Power & Infra Limited, an integrated manufacturer of power cables, conductors and specialised components for India’s power transmission and distribution sector, has announced fresh orders cumulatively worth ₹836 crore from NTPC, Kanpur Electric Supply Company Ltd (KESCo) and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL).

The projects fall under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and involve the supply of the company’s in-house manufactured power cables, conductors and system-strengthening materials.

Manufacturing-Led Orders with Turnkey Execution

A major share of the ₹836 crore order book comprises supply of high tension (HT) and low tension (LT) power cables, Aerial Bunched (AB) cables, overhead conductors and system-augmentation materials. The projects will be executed under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode, enabling Laser Power & Infra to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.

Key Orders Secured

KESCo, Uttar Pradesh – ₹422.11 crore

System-strengthening works including extensive supply of distribution cables and conductors, followed by erection and commissioning.

NTPC, Jammu & Kashmir – ₹212.06 crore

Projects in Udhampur and Reasi focused on loss-reduction, involving major deployment of HT/LT cables, AB cables and overhead conductors.

JDVVNL, Rajasthan – ₹202.13 crore

Feeder segregation and infrastructure development anchored around the company’s in-house manufactured distribution conductors and cabling systems.

Incorporated in 1988, Laser Power & Infra operates three manufacturing units in West Bengal with a combined capacity of 73,100 MT (as of March 31, 2025). The company recently filed its DRHP for a ₹1,200 crore IPO, comprising a fresh issue of ₹800 crore and an OFS of ₹400 crore.

The company reported ₹2,570 crore in revenue from operations in FY25, growing at nearly 40% CAGR since FY23, with a profit after tax of ₹106 crore.
