Kolkata: Titan Eyeplus launches satellite lens manufacturing facility in Madhyamgram

Kolkata, May 11 (IBNS): Titan Eyeplus, India’s leading eyewear retail chain, on Wednesday announced the launch of a new state-of-the-art lens manufacturing facility at Madhyamgram near Kolkata.

The facility, spread over 2500 sq. ft will serve as a satellite facility which will cater to the lens requirements of over 100 stores in the Eastern region. The Lens lab is serviced by 16 persons working in three shifts to produce up to 450 lenses per day.

The facility boasts of a 100% digital production of lenses including production of digital bifocal lenses and lenses with very high power. The set-up uses advanced technology for blocking variations in Lens Blank which allows Titan to reduce errors to almost zero.

Titan Eyeplus provides a wide range of high tech lenses for all consumer segments across single vision, bifocal and progressive requirements. These lenses are available in various materials like glass, plastics, polycarbonate and Trivex, with scratch resistant and anti-reflective coatings that minimize glare and provide 99% vision clarity. The brand also offers a wide range of photo-chromatic lenses which are suitable for outdoor usage as well as tinted powered lenses for sunglasses.

The Titan lens manufacturing facility is designed to enable production of specialized lenses such as blue-coated lenses, UV protected lenses and hydrophobic lenses. Blue-coated lenses block exposure to harmful blue light that is emitted by electronic screens, allowing for reduction in eye stress and fatigue. This product is designed for customers who spend long hours in front of electronic screens. As the name suggests, UV protected lenses reduce exposure to UV rays which cause cataract formation over time.

The key property of super hydrophobic lenses is that it allows water droplets to roll off the lens without leaving any marks on the surface.

Bhaskar Bhat, MD, Titan Company Limited, inaugurated the new facility. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “The East region is a growing market and a key region for Titan Eyeplus. We have set up this state-of-the-art lens manufacturing unit in Madhyamgram to meet the increasing needs of the region. This facility will enable faster customer service for the entire region, using on-block technology to reduce lead time wherein even progressive lens requirements can be churned out in a single day.”
