India’s 2022 half-yearly merchandise exports increase to $ 235.7 billion

New Delhi: India’s merchandise exports during January-June 2022 stood at $ 235.7 billion as compared to $ 185.9 billion during the same period of the previous year, according to data shared by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

India’s merchandise imports during January-June 2022 was USD 361.1 billion as compared to $ 258.6 billion during the same period of the previous year.           

The total merchandise export was $ 421.9 billion during 2021-22 against the export target of $ 400 billion, achieving 105.4% of the export target.

Barring a few sectors, all major sectors showed a positive trend with an overall growth rate of 26.7 percent.

During the period under review, the export of engineering goods stood at $ 58,737 million, gems & jewellery at $ 20,420 million, drugs & pharmaceuticals at $ 12,660 million, electronic goods $ 9,410 million.

The top five performers were - engineering goods at $ 58,737 million, followed by petroleum products at $ 46,325, gems & jewellery at $ 20,420 million, organic & inorganic chemicals at $ 15,967 million and drugs & pharmaceuticals at $ 12,660 million during the period.
