Indian Market: Sensex drops 651.85 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday crashed 651.85 points at 59,646.15 on weak global cues.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slid 198.05 points at 17,758.54.

The Sensex rose 53 points at 60,351.23. It rallied by 151 points at 60,411.20, the day's high. Later, it tanked 786 points at 59,474.57, the day's low, before closing at 59,646.15, sliding 651.85 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the day's high and low at 60,411.20 and 59,474.57 points respectively.

Sectoral indices like realty, metal, oil and gas, energy and finance dragged the market.

In scrips, IndusInd Bank was a major loser, down by 4.05 per cent to Rs 1,060.35 followed by Bajaj Finserv by 3.16 per cent to Rs 16,279, Bajaj finance by 2.61 per cent to Rs 7,295.50, Tata Steel by 2.44 per cent to Rs 109.80 and SBI by 2.33 per cent to Rs 520.

The gainers were L&T by 2.06 per cent to Rs 1,933.15, Infosys by 0.52 per cent to Rs 1,591 and TCS by 0.20 per cent to Rs 3,388.

The Mid Cap fell by 1.27 per cent and Small Cap by 0.95 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 3 advanced while 27 declined.

In Asian Market, China was down by 0.59 per cent and Japan by 0.04 per cent.
