Indian Market: Sensex down by over 100 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Tuesday dropped further by 178.01 pts at 52,557.58 in opening trade as selling was seen in Materials, Consumer Discretionary Goods and Services, Energy and Finance stocks.

The Nifty too fell by 58.85 pts to 15,755.85.

The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 52,816.42 and 52,549.47 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 15,835.90 and 15,747.35 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up by 0.03 pc and Small Cap by 0.17 pc.

In 30 scrips, 12 advanced, 17 declined and one remained unchanged.

The losers were Kotak Bank by 1.66 pc to Rs 1703.70, M&M by 1.34 pc to Rs 782.90, ICICI Bank by 1.27 pc to Rs 641.85, Bajaj Auto by 1.14 pc to Rs 4135 and Maruti Suzuki by 0.97 pc to Rs 7520.45.

The gainers were Titan by 0.74 pc to Rs 1740.80, Powergrid by 0.52 pc to Rs 233, Asian Paints by 0.48 pc to Rs 2497.15 and Nestle India by 0.40 pc to Rs 17,578.15.
