Indian Market: Sensex crashes 773.69 pts

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday crashed 773.69 pts to settle at 60,205.06 on weak global cues.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 226.35 pts at 17,891.95.

The sensex opened on a weak note at 60,834, fell 144 pts. During the session, it plummeted 897 pts at 60,081.36, day low, before closing at 60,205.06 from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 18,100.60 and 17,846 pts respectively.

In sectoral indices, BSE services declined 2.92 pc followed by Utilities by 2.87 pc, Bankex by 2.42 pc and Oil and Gas by 1.76 pc.

In scrips, SBI was a top loser, slid by 4.35 pc to Rs 568.50, IndusInd Bank by 4.26 pc to Rs 1160.70, HDFC Bank by 2.67 pc to Rs 1650, Axis Bank by 2.09 pc to Rs 891.05 and HDFC by 1.87 pc to Rs 2714.15.

The gainers were Hind Unilever by 1.14 pc to Rs 2628, M & M by 0.88 pc to Rs 8775, Tata Steel by 0.58 pc to Rs 121.05 and NTPC by 0.39 pc to Rs 166.40.
