Indian Market: For 2nd consecutive session, Sensex, Nifty end in red

Mumbai/UNI: For the second consecutive session, benchmark indices ended in red territory on Monday.

At the close, the Sensex was down 524.96 points or 0.89 per cent at 58,490.93 while Nifty was down 188.25 points or 1.07 per cent at 17, 396.90.

Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Hindalco, UPL, BPCL, SBI, IndusIndBank were among the top losers at Nifty while Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finance, ITC, Nestel, HCL Tech were among the top gainers at Nifty.

At BSE, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finance, ITC, HCL Tech, Nestle, Reliance were among the top gainers while Tata Steel, SBI, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Dr Reddy Lab, Mahindra and Mahindra were among the top losers.

All the sectoral indices, barring FMCG, ended in red. BSE smallcap fell 516.52 points or 1.84 per cent at 27,490.27 while BSE mid cap fell 447.97 points or 1.79 per cent at 24,598.51.

The Sensex, which opened at 58,634.69, registered day's high and low at 59,202.56 and 58,389.69 points respectively.

Similarly, the Nifty, which opened at 17,443.85, recorded day's high and low at 17,622.75 and 17,361.80 points respectively.
