"Granulated Slag from SAIL's IISCO Steel Plant in high demand"

Burnpur, Aug 19 (IBNS): The first export consignment of Granulated Slag produced from the new Blast Furnace 'Kalyani' of modernized IISCO Steel Plant was dispatched for Bhutan previous night.
The consignment weighing 4000 Metric Tonnes contained in 59 wagons will be gainfully utilized in the cement plants of Bhutan.

"There is a high demand for the Granulated Slag produced at SAIL’s modern plant at Burnpur from domestic customers like ACC Ltd and Burnpur Cement as well as from neighboring countries. IISCO Steel Plant currently produces around 40,000 Metric Tons of Granulated Slag per month and has export orders lined up from other neighboring countries like Nepal and Bangladesh. Preparation is on for exporting consignment of two rakes of Granulated Slag to customers in Nepal," an official statement said.

Two weeks ago on July 30, first export consignment of Steel Blooms produced at modern IISCO Steel Plant was dispatched to Nepal for urgent rehabilitation work following the massive earth quake. The blooms are being used for rolling out quake resistant TMT bars required for infrastructure development. Another consignment is being readied for dispatch.

Both these exports are in alignment with our Prime Minister’s pursuit to elevate bilateral relationship with neighboring countries by ushering in an era of massive infrastructure development all around.

Recently on May 10, he had dedicated the modernized and expanded IISCO Steel Plant to the nation.

The Plant not only tripled its hot metal capacity from 0.85 to 2.9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) but also ushered in a new era of green and high quality steelmaking. Soon after the stabilization of its new and modernized units, ISP is fast catering to the needs of both national and international customers with its quality products.
