FläktGroup: Samsung completes acquisition of Europe's largest HVAC company

Samsung Electronics said on Friday it has completed the acquisition of FläktGroup, Europe’s largest heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) company, as the South Korean tech firm moves to expand its presence in the commercial cooling and data centre market.

Samsung said it will use FläktGroup’s production and sales networks to broaden research and development, strengthen supply chains and integrate product portfolios over time. Subsidiaries including Woods Air Movement, SEMCO and SE-Elektronic will also come under Samsung’s ownership.

FläktGroup will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary, retaining its name, management, workforce and facilities to maintain its technological capabilities and brand identity, Samsung said.

“This marks a strategic move for Samsung, aimed at leading the global HVAC and data centre markets,” said TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By combining FläktGroup’s engineering strengths with Samsung’s AI platforms, we aim to deliver new standards in HVAC solutions.”

Samsung said it plans to grow HVAC as a core business within the DX Division, focusing on commercial-scale systems and sectors such as AI data centres, where demand for high-capacity cooling is rising in North America, Europe and Asia. The company also plans to expand regional supply chains and after-sales service capabilities.

The acquisition follows Samsung’s joint venture with U.S. heating and cooling firm Lennox last year to strengthen its position in the North American HVAC market.

FläktGroup, which has operated for more than a century, manufactures central air conditioning and precision cooling systems and runs over 10 production sites with sales networks across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia. The company also supplies custom solutions for hyperscale and AI-driven data centres and recently formed a dedicated North America data centre team.
