Retirement Planning Crisis
Financial advisor Nilanjan Dey launches book on the great Indian retirement crisis
Kolkata/IBNS: Indians are teetering on the brink of a terrible retirement crisis, said Kolkata-based financial advisor Nilanjan Dey as he debuts as a writer launching his first book -No Room For Less- addressing the concern that is not often discussed in media or other forums.
Dey, a former business journalist, is the Director of Wishlist Capital, which caters to financial planning needs of the mass affluent (read the middle-class household with a certain annual income) and specifically targets the retirement market .
Dey stated the book discusses the fact that the government is faced with an enormous funding problem. Despite the reformist agenda pursued by the pension regulator in recent years, the challenge remains formidable, especially because common Indian households have little knowledge of retirement planning.
No Room For Less dwells on three important issues- the recent pension reforms in India, the current legislation on retirement and the popular retirement products aimed at savers.

The book concludes that Indians are teetering on the brink of a terrible retirement crisis in the absence of proper planning by people.
While all three points are super-critical, what appears particularly galling is the way pension reforms are shaping up, he said. The government has initiated powerful measures, yet its delivery is inefficient, he added.
Indians are yet to warm up to the idea of methodical retirement savings. "The large product basket we have before us isn't enough. All eyes, for instance, are fixed on annuity -- we just don't know what a dumb product it actually it," he said.

In an era where inflationary trends are so strong, and savings so lopsided, we need the retirement agenda to emerge well and truly, he said.
The book is available on Amazon and Flipkart.
