Elon Musk to replace Parag Agrawal as Twitter CEO: Report

San Francisco/IBNS: Twitter's new owner Elon Musk has decided on a new Chief Executive for the micro-blogging site who will replace CEO Parag Agrawal once the $44 billion-sale of the company is complete, news agency Reuters has reported quoting an unnamed source.

Parag Agrawal, who was named Twitter's Chief Executive in November, is expected to remain in his position until the sale of the company to Musk is completed.

Earlier, Agrawal tried to dismiss speculations over his future in the company after its hostile takeover by Tesla and Space X boss Elon Musk in a $44 billion cash deal.

Responding to a tweet by a Twitter user that read, "I feel for the current ceo of Twitter (@paraga) - he had all these plans and now lives with the same uncertainty of his whole team", Agarwal said, "Thank you but don't feel for me. What matters most is the service and the people improving it."

Agrawal had also spoken about his vision for the company before he took over the company and lauded his colleagues who continue to work "with focus and urgency despite the noise".

"I took this job to change Twitter for the better, course correct where we need to, and strengthen the service. Proud of our people who continue to do the work with focus and urgency despite the noise," he tweeted.

A parody account named "not Parag Agrawal" responded with "I thought we were fired".

Agarwal then clarified that he and his team were still there.

"nope! we’re still here," Agrawal tweeted.
