New Delhi/IBNS: American e-commerce giant Amazon on Wednesday announced plans to invest over $35 billion in India over the next five years, media reports said.

Speaking at the sixth edition of the Amazon Smbhav Summit in New Delhi, company officials said the fresh investment will deepen Amazon’s role in building India’s digital economy, advancing Artificial Intelligence (AI), and generating large-scale employment.

The company highlighted that it has already invested $40 billion in India over the past 15 years across both physical and digital infrastructure.

Amazon expects its continued expansion to help create one million direct, indirect, induced and seasonal jobs in India by 2030.

As part of its long-term AI roadmap, Amazon plans to expand access to AI tools and capabilities across sectors and deliver AI benefits to 15 million small businesses by 2030.

Aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, the company also aims to provide AI education to four million government school students, support career guidance initiatives and assist in teacher training.
