ZSI Kolkata to hold centenary celebrations on Friday
Kolkata, Jun 30 (IBNS): The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), in commemoration of its centenary, is organising a three-day “National Conference on Faunal diversity in the Indian land and seascapes†between June 30 and July 2, 2016 in Kolkata.
Union Minister of State (IC), Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, will be the Chief Guest at the Centenary functionon Friday.
Minister-in-Charge, Environment, West Bengal, Sovan Chatterjee, will be the Guest of Honour.
As part of the ceremony, the Environment Minister will unveil ZSI’s Centenary Sculpture, “Flow of Life”, and launch the ‘Digital ZSI’ (i.e. the digital library and faunal information system of ZSI), dedicating it to the nation, as well as release the special centenary publications brought out by ZSI as part of the centenary celebrations.
He will also present the E.K. Janaki Ammal Award on Taxonomy for the year 2016
During the occasion, the Animal Discoveries, 2015 and Plant Discoveries, 2015 published by ZSI and BSI, respectively, will also be released.
