Youth killed in J&K, curfew continues

Srinagar, Sept 3 (IBNS): The death toll in the ongoing violence that erupted after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani has touched 73 with the killing of a youth in Qazigund area of South Kashmir.

According to reports, people where protesting on roads against the recent killings and pelt stones on security forces.

During the intense clash Youth namely Basit Zargar, resident of Vesoo Qazigund, was killed when he sustained serious wounds during clashes
at village Vesoo of South Kashmir Qazigund .

Some reports said Basit was hit by pellets during clashes with government forces today in Vesso village of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Over 11,000 people including 7,000 civilians and 4,000 security personnel have been injured in the ongoing unrest that started on July 8, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was killed by forces in a gunfight.

Separatist leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were arrested on August 19 when they defied house arrest and came out to join the separatist-called march in the city which was foiled by the forces.

All educational institutes, shops, transport and other businesses remain suspended.
