Youth drown while friends try to make video of him dying

Kalaburagi/UNI: A shocking video has emerged showing a 22-year-old youth drowning in a water-logged stone quarry while his friends was seen stood laughing on the edge of the pond.

The tragic incident happened near Raneshpeer Darga, outskirts of Kalaburgi city on Friday evening and police confirmed the incident today.


According to the police, the deceased was identified as Jaffar (22), native of Mijguri area of the city.


Police said that the video footage in which the victim boy struggling, captured by his friends on Friday evening was seen they were standing very near to him while some of them laughing.


In the footage, the victim can be seen bobbing up and down and waving his arms as he struggles for air. His friends can be heard calling out to him and laughing on the shore. At the end of the footage, the teenager disappears from the view as his friends are still on the shore.


As the news reached, police and fire personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body. A case has been registered with Kalaburagi rural police station.
