A loan department manager at a YES Bank branch in Punjab's Amritsar was injured after a man allegedly opened fire inside the bank premises following a dispute over financial transactions, police said.

The incident occurred after two to three men arrived at the branch over a money-related dispute, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gagandeep Singh said.

Money dispute escalates into shooting

According to the ACP, Jaspal Singh, who was posted as a relationship manager at the bank, had been involved in a dispute with some individuals over financial transactions.

The disagreement escalated into a heated argument, which soon turned into a physical altercation.

During the confrontation, one of the men allegedly opened fire, injuring Gaurav, the manager of the bank's loan department.

The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting, while the injured manager was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Police scan CCTV footage to track accused

Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed inside the bank and in the surrounding areas to establish the sequence of events and trace the accused.

Police said further legal action would be taken against the suspects based on the findings of the investigation.
