Yashwant Sinha announces nationwide anti-CAA yatra

Mumbai/UNI: Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha on Saturday announced the launch of 'Gandhi Shanti Yatra' -a nationwide anti-CAA Yatra by his political outfit Rashtra Manch.

Sinha was addressing a press conference along with actor-politician and Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha and former Gujarat chief minister Suresh Mehta.
The yatra, which was kicked off on Friday at Apollo Bunder here, will cover pass through Pune, Gujarat, UP and Haryana and culminate at Raj Ghat in the National Capital on January 30.

Besides appealing for peace and harmony throughout the country, the yatra is also aimed at castigating BJP-ruled states for the violence wrecked against peaceful protestors, Ms Sinha said.

Former Gujarat chief minister Sureshbhai Mehta appealed to the people and organisations from Gujarat to take the lead in making the Yatra successful and taking the message to the people.

Taking a strong and unequivocal stand against CAA 2019 , he said that it is patently unconstitutional and purely discriminatory against a community and meant to humiliate them. He demanded CAA be repealed and an announcement made that NPR-NRC will not be implemented.

Calling the police crackdown on UP 'state sponsored terrorism' he said that the yatra is specifically going to UP to protest the police high handedness. ''We are not scared, we will see,'' he said.

Shatrughan Sinha said, ''We have suffered so much that now we are embarking on a 'safar' (travel)’. We are against the government's policies."
