Woman killed as security forces fire on protesters near Kashmir encounter site

Srinagar, Dec 19 (IBNS) : A woman was killed after security forces opened fire on protesters near the site of gunfight in Batmurran village of  south Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday.

According to sources, a young woman, identified as Beauty Jan (24) of Batamarun was hit by a bullet in her abdomen during clashes. She was rushed to a hospital, but died on the way.

Reports also said, at least 20 protesters were injured in the clashes with security personnel in the morning after forces launched a search operation to look for the third militant believed to be hiding in the debris of the blasted house.

Earlier, two militants were killed in the overnight gunfight with government forces that began on Monday evening after the  army and police launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
