Woman cop commits suicide at Kolkata airport

Kolkata, Oct 13 (IBNS): An on-duty woman constable of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) committed suicide in the wee hours of Thursday at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI-CCU) Airport in Kolkata, officials said.

According to reports, the nearly 20-year-old constable from Assam- Lagni Biswas- shot herself dead with her service revolver, when she was on duty near airport's Gate number 3.

"We heard a sound of gunshot from Gate number 3 rushed to the scene, where the body of the woman constable was found in a pool of blood," a senior official of CISF told IBNS.

"She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared brought dead," the official added.

Police recovered a suicide note from her and have started investigation into the matter, an official of Bidhannagar City Police told IBNS.

The constable's body  has been sent for post mortem.
