Kolkata/Murshidabad, Aug 16 (IBNS): A middle aged woman on Tuesday attempted suicide after allegedly killing her two sons at Naya Mukundapur area under Raghunathganj Police Station limits in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, officials said.

According to reports, locals rescued the woman, attempted suicide by cutting her wrist, from her house and found the bodies of her two children, Selim Sheikh (3) and Alim Sheikh (2), in the same room.

The woman, Sakina Bibi, is being treated in Jangipur Sub-Divisional Hospital.

"After primary investigation, we are suspecting that the woman committed suicide after killing her kids, following a family problem," a senior official of Murshidabad district police told IBNS.

"The matter will be cleared after the probe ends," he further said.
