With Kannur, Kerala only state to have 4 international airports

Kannur, Dec 9 (IBNS): Civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu and Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Kannur International Airport on Sunday.

"This airport is in a way is a gateway to the future progress of #Kerala. I congratulate Kerala Government and people of Kerala for making their dream to come to reality which Kerala now usher into a new growth trajectory," Prabhu tweeted.

"Kannur Takes Off! Kerala celebrates the opening of Kannur Airport, which is the 4th International airport in the State. The airport (IATA: CNN) will change the fortune of Northern Kerala," the chief minister tweeted.

This is the fourth airport in Kerala after Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.

The state is now the only one in the country with four international airports.

The chief guests flagged off the first flight from the airport, an Air India Express flight with 180 passengers to Abu Dhabi, shortly after the inauguration.
