New Delhi, May 19 (IBNS): As BJP captured the Assam Assembly by beating the Congress, party president Amit Shah assured that it is committed to perform for the development of the state.

"BJP is committed to perform for the development of the people of Assam," Shah said.

As per the latest trends, BJP is leading in 88 seats in Assam and Congress is standing at the second spot with 22 seats.

He said the BJP put up a good performance across the four states and Puducherry where counting for the Assembly polls are currently underway.

"After the results are out today, we can say our party workers have made the base of the party stronger across the nation," Shah said.

He said: "BJP has put up a strong show across five states,"

Speaking on the performance of the BJP in West Bengal, Shah said: "I feel it was a good show."

Attacking the Congress, he said: "The nation has moved further towards BJP's agenda of 'Congress-mukt Bharat' with these results."

"Congress has lost everywhere," he said.
