Will return to power with huge mandate: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in state assembly

Kolkata/IBNS: Amid a stiff contest with the spirited Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said she will be voted back to power in the upcoming state elections with a huge mandate.

Defending her presentation of state budget in absence of Finance Minister Amit Mitra, Banerjee said what was the problem if the budget was an advertisement for the upcoming elections.

Banerjee on Friday presented the Vote on Account in the assembly as Mitra was reportedly ill.

Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his allegations levelled against the Trinamool Congress government in the state over farmers' scheme, Banerjee said the Centre should start paying up the 2.5 lakh farmers who have been registered under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Banerjee's counter-attack came after Modi during a rally in West Bengal on Sunday targeted the Trinamool government for allegedly depriving the farmers of the state by not implementing the scheme, reminding people of his famous "Speed-Breaker Didi" jibe at the CM back in 2019.

Modi said the BJP government, if comes to power, will implement PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in the first cabinet meeting.

In an unsparing attack on the ruling party, "People have decided to show Ram card to the Trinamool."
