Will continue to serve country with same vigour and dedication: Modi on BJP govt's four years in power

New Delhi, May 26 (IBNS): The Narendra Modi-led central government completed its four years in office on Saturday.

On the occasion of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government's completion of the fourth year in power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to say he will continue to serve the country with the same vigour and dedication as he did for the last 48 months.

In a tweet, Modi said: "I bow to my fellow citizens for their unwavering faith in our Government. This support and affection is the biggest source of motivation and strength for the entire Government. We will continue to serve the people of India with the same vigour and dedication."

In 2014, the BJP had stormed into power by winning 282 Lok Sabha seats to form a full-majority government at the Centre after 30 years.

The BJP had ended a 10-year rule of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA)- led by the Congress- at the Centre in 2014.

Modi in an early tweet said: "On this day in 2014, we began our journey of working towards India’s transformation. Over the last four years, development has become a vibrant mass movement, with every citizen feeling involved in India's growth trajectory. 125 crore Indians are taking India to great heights!"

Modi had won both Gandhinagar and Varanasi constituencies, from where he had contested his elections.

Later he had resigned from Gandhinagar and kept his MP seat in Varanasi.

Though the BJP had lost a few Lok Sabha seats in the recent by-polls, the saffron outfit is still the most dominant political party in the country.

However, Narendra Modi and the BJP are likely to face a united Opposition in the next General Elections, scheduled to be held in 2019.

Several disparate opposition forces are teaming up with an aim to defeat the BJP in the next Lok Sabha polls.
