Wife moves SC over husband's porn addiction

Mumbai, Feb 16 (IBNS): Seeking ban on pornographic websites, a Mumbai-based woman has moved Supreme Court, stating that it has hampered her married life owing to her husband's addiction, media reports said..

The woman, also an activist, said she was married happily for 30 years until her husband took a liking to the adult sites in 2015.

"My husband has of late become an addict of porn and spends a lot of his precious time watching pornography. As a result, my husband has fallen prey to this addiction of watching pornographic videos and pictures which have made my husband's mind perverted and ruined my matrimonial life," her petition read.

The man is question is also a father of two.

Explaining her plight, the woman said it all began since 2015 when her husband got addicted to the pornography websites.

Urging the apex court to take action, she said that it has ruined the lives of her and her children.

"I and my children are suffering as a result of porn addiction of my husband. I am unfortunately a victim of matrimonial dispute resulting out of porn addiction of my husband," the petition added.

Pornography addiction is seen as a behavioral addiction characterized by compulsive use of pornographic material until it causes serious negative consequences to one's physical, mental, social, and/or financial well-being. There is no diagnosis of pornography addiction in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
