Kolkata, Jan 18 (IBNS): A 9-year-old boy was killed and at least six others, including a policeman, were shot during a tussle between two rival groups of ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) at Hetalkhali area under Basanti Police Station limits in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Thursday, reports said.

According to reports, supporters of TMC and Trinamool Yuva Congress, the youth wing of TMC, engaged in a clash with each other since morning over a local issue.

Locals claimed that a large number of crude bombs were hurled and several bullets were shot during the skirmish.

A local boy, who has been identified as Arabul Mollah, was shot while returning home from school in the afternoon and was rushed to Canning Sub-Division Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

At least six others, including five villagers and one police constable, sustained bullet injuries in the clash and they have been admitted to local hospitals.

A local police official told IBNS that a heavy police force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) and combat force have been deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control.

However, no leader of state's ruling party has reacted on the issue yet.
