He was also caught on camera walking on the road with a blood-stained knife in his hand on Thursday.

In the video, which went viral on social media, terrified by his act, some passersby could be heard asking him to drop the knife.

Sarkar had requested leave, but his application was declined. Following this, he got into an argument with his colleagues and went on a stabbing spree inside his office at Karigari Bhawan in Kolkata's Newtown area around 12 PM on Thursday, sources told India Today.

During police interrogation, the accused alleged that his colleagues had made indecent comments about his father which made him furious, sources said.

Police are investigating the source of the knife and how he obtained it.

A case has been registered against Sarkar.

An investigation is currently underway.

It is also being probed if the man is mentally challenged, sources told India Today.
