The operation of local trains have been suspended from Thursday. Buses, metros will run with 50 per cent capacity.

Government and private offices will operate with 50 per cent workforce.

Banerjee, who held her first meeting over Covid-19 after swearing in as the Chief Minister for the third term in the morning, appealed to all people to wear masks, use sanitizers and maintain social distancing.

Earlier in a letter, the Chief Minister has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to send Covid-19 vaccines to all states universally in a transparent manner.

"We are seeing some states are getting prioritised. I appeal to the Prime Minister to hold transparency and send an equal number of vaccines to all states," she said.
