Kolkata/Murshidabad, Mar 30 (IBNS): At least six persons were hurt as local leaders-activists of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Congress clashed with each other over a local issue at Berhampore Municipality office in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Thursday, local media reports said.

According to reports, few Congress councilors went to submit a deputation before Berhampore Municipality's Mayor in the late afternoon and a verbal clash with a little scuffle was started between Mayor and Congress leaders when their deputation was rejected.

The scuffle soon turned into a clash when local TMC leaders and a large number of state's ruling party activists joined the brawl.

Five supporters of both parties and a staffer of the municipality were injured in the clash. They were rushed to a local hospital.

Later, police force along with Rapid Action Force (RAF) went to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Till the last update came in, heavy security arrangements have been deployed as the situation remains tense.

No one has been arrested so far in connection with the clash.

However, both parties accused each other for triggering the violence.
