New Delhi/UNI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced a weekend curfew in Delhi to contain the surge of Covid-19 infection.

According to the directives, essential activities, including weddings, will be allowed with curfew passes. Auditoriums, malls, gyms and spas will be shut down and cinema theatres will be allowed with a third of the capacity.

This announcement came after Kejriwal met with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and other officials.

Delhi on Wednesday reported its highest single-day rise in Covid-19 cases since the pandemic erupted with 17,282 infections and 100 deaths. The figure makes Delhi the worst-hit city in the second wave of infections raging through the country.
