We have rejuvenated economy : PM on first anniversary of govt

| | May 26, 2015, at 04:17 pm
New Delhi, May 26 (IBNS) In a letter to the nation , Minister Narendra Modi has said his government has rejuvenated a 'languishing economy' by working on policies.

"We assumed office at a time when confidence in the India story was waning. Unabated corruption and indecisiveness had paralysed the government. People had been left helpless against ever-climbing inflation and economic insecurity. Urgent and decisive action was needed," the Prime Minister said in the letter put out as an ad in newspapers to mark the one year of his government.

The letter was front-paged in all leading newspapers on Tuesday morning.

"Runaway prices were immediately brought under control. The languishing economy was rejuvenated, building on stable and policy-driven proactive governance," he said in the letter.

The PM wrote the government is dedicated to the poor, marginalized and those left behind.

He said the government has taken firm steps against black money stashed in foreign accounts.

"Friends, this is just the beginning. Our objective is to transform quality of life, infrastructure and services ," he wrote.

The BJP came to power last year to become the  first party in 30 years to win a majority on its own. However, a year on, the government is drawing strong criticism  from the opposition for its several policies and moves which are being dubbed "pro-rich and anti-poor" and facing stiff resistance to its reforms move.
