Kolkata/Uluberia, Aug 16 (IBNS): Alleging the Uluberia Municipality was not distributing Aadhaar card at right time, a large number of people on Tuesday ransacked the Uluberia Municipality office in West Bengal's Howrah district, reports said.

According to reports, hundreds of people gathered in front of Uluberia Municipality office in the morning to collect their Aadhaar cards.

When they were informed that Aadhaar card would not be distributed on Tuesday, they started agitation and attacked the office.

Beside the office, several vehicles, which were parked outside, and a health centre nearby were also vandalized.

When police tried to intervene, they were attacked.

Protesting people also blocked a road there.

A policeman was injured after being hit by a stone, pelted by the protesters, and was rushed to Uluberia hospital.

Heavy police force rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control.

At least three protesters have been detained so far while tension is still there at the area.
