Kolkata, Oct 21 (IBNS): Government owned West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) on Tuesday charged 2184 Durga Puja committees across West Bengal for taking electricity connection illegally, reports said.

According to reports, the company had inspected 5780 pandals in the entire state and fined those pandals which were taking electricity illegally.

"Like previous years, we inspected several Puja pandals in this year too. Those charged pandals took as many as 10241 kilo-volt (kV) current illegally. We have collected approximately 40 lakh 49 thousand rupees from the accused puja committees as fine," one senior officer of WBSEDCL told IBNS.
