Was humiliated when AIADMK leaders said Sasikala be made CM: Panneerselvam

Chennai, Feb 7 (IBNS): In a big revelation, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Tuesday said he submitted his resignation letter as he felt humiliated by the members of the Council.

Speaking to media after paying homage at former TN Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's memorial, after whose death he took charge of the prestigious post, Panneerselvam said: "A meeting of MLAs was called. I went to Poes garden. And they said Ms. Sasikala should take over as CM."

He said he had no idea of the meeting before hand.

"I never knew about the MLAs' meeting at all. And I asked why am I being humiliated like this after foisting the job I was not willing to take over," Panneerselvam was quoted as saying by The Hindu.

"I never revealed it because I don't want any bad name for the party or Amma's legacy," said he.

He also asserted that if people wants him to withdraw his resignation, he shall do the same.

In a turn of events, Panneerselvam made a sudden visit to Jayalalithaa's memorial on Tuesday late evening and was seen sitting there in "meditation" for about 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, amid uncertainty, the ruling AIADMK party on Tuesday said that  V K Sasikala will be sworn-in as the state's Chief Minister by Thursday, media reports said.

TN Governor Vidyasagar Rao reportedly consulted legal experts on whether such an oath-taking ceremony should be held at all.

The swearing-in of Sasikala as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is still uncertain as a plea was filed in the Supreme Court against her.
